Fujiwara Teruyasu has named these knives Denka no Hoto 伝家の宝刀,
The quality of the sharpness is nearly unparalleled and the edge retention very good .
These knives are finished with a Western style pakka wood handle.
The Pakka wood handle is made from layers of wood and resin,
compressed under high heat to produce incredibly durable material.
The net result is a handle that looks and feels like wood,
but not affected by water. Fujiwara knives feature a tapered tang for great balance

Using traditional blacksmith techniques to create fully hand-made knives.
A traditional craftsman from Tokyo who has inherited sword making techniques from the early Meiji period. Utilizing the techniques of swordsmiths in modern kitchen knives,
we use all of our skills to create knives that will last a lifetime and are widely supported by everyone from the professional cooking world to ordinary households.
Each knife is made by hand with a three-layer structure of steel and stainless steel,
and while it has the sharpness of steel, it is also rust-resistant and easy to maintain.

Master Teruyasu Fujiwara is the fourth generation blacksmith of the Fujiwara family,
with a history of sword-forging since 1870. After the Second World War,
the production of swords was limited,
so Mr. Fujiwara decided to adopt his traditional blade forging techniques from the early-Meiji era into making modern kitchen knives.
It is Mr. Fujiwara’s motto to make practical and extremely durable knives that can last decades.
His knives are, in his own words,
“expected to be passed down from father to son, and mother to daughter”.
